community

Working with community groups, charities and research bodies to connect people, nature and place through a range of creative projects.

The community group the Craft Cafe, Impact Arts, explored the identity of a river and the life forms it could support if restored from centuries of pollution. Using both written word and mono-print, a collaborative, large scale zine was displayed on the Tallship, on the river Clyde.

To launch the Communimap app, GALLANT and Shared Planet worked together to map trees with community groups across Govan. Exploring different tree species, what types of urban wildlife they support, and how crucial trees are in preventing climate change. The variety of tree themed artwork has been mapped within the app.

Through a children’s art session with Urban Roots, we explored mark-making and collage, inspired by both insects and flowers in the community garden, a sign was made to mark this space.

The super powers of Bonnie the Therapet was a zine made by the Craft Cafe, Impact Arts. Where quotes and drawing were gathered to reflect the healing powers that occurs through connecting with animals. Bonnie is a registered Therapet, she visits care homes and attends the Craft alongside participants, providing companionship for those who may not be able to keep animals themselves.
